Amy writes:

“Monkey – as he is aptly named – is smart, athletic and above all playful. His favourite things to do include; throwing around buckets, grabbing the shoulder of his blanket and running around in circles, chasing the other horses around and then racing them, eating and supervising what’s going on because he’s the boss (even over the hacks on the property).

“He loves to be ridden and sulks when he is left out on anything. He has been successfully competing at Prelim (up to 74%) and Novice (up to 70%) dressage with wins and many placings.

“He was reserve pony champion at the Waitemata Dressage Championships, and qualified for the World FEI final in preliminary as the only pony.

“He is show jumping up to 1.10m clearing the jumps effortlessly with wins up to 1.05m.

“At home he enjoys being ridden bareback in a halter, and on the odd occasions with just a rope around his neck.

“Sometimes we go and do some cross country for fun, as well as pony club where he loves to show off.

“He has come along with the family on holiday and sometimes grazes in the garden.”
